DAWN AND DUSK
Rising before daybreak has been an effortless routine as far back as I can recall. The excitement about the imminent activity about to unfold has me alert and fully functioning within moments of waking. Whether deep sea fishing with my father as a boy, the competitive drive to catch the first wave of the day at California Street, or the anticipation of another early photo shoot, there’s nothing like dawn.
Dawn and dusk both possess a level of light and color that beckons to be documented. It is dawn, however, that rules, as the crisp new day becomes visible and audible, with few, if any other people around.
I hope you enjoy these images taken locally, on the Monterey Peninsula, McCall, Idaho, and a few in Maine.
